The post-punk pioneers of the late 70's band, Joy Division, adopted a distinctly post-modern style. Sharp, collared shirts; large overcoats; slim pants; and black oxford shoes defined their wardrobe. Having taken the tailored aspects of mod style, they adapted it to their lifestyle of a more melancholy and unkempt nature. This twilight marked the end of mod style in Great Britain and the proliferation of the darker post-punk style.
